TASCAM, known for its reliable and functional audio gear, has just introduced the Model 2400, a 24-track multitrack recording mixer and USB audio interface.

The Model mixer family has a solid history of being user-friendly and high-quality, and the Model 2400 keeps that tradition going. This new model adds a bunch of new features that are perfect for live venues and studios packed with synths, hardware, and outboard gear.

Tascam Model 2400 Top Features:

- 16 XLR mic inputs with +48V phantom power and 22 TRS line inputs.
- Up to 24-track recording and 22-track playback on SD card with punch-in/out support.
- USB audio interface: 24 inputs, 22 outputs inclusive of DAW transport control.
- Ultra-HDDA mic preamps built in. Full range of EQ and compressor options.
- MIDI IN/OUT, USB-MIDI interface, plus many digital and analog options for connectivity.

The Model 2400 is an unassumingly designed apparatus that has been tailored to accommodate the needs of modern, perspicacious audio production. Being equipped with 16 XLR mic inputs and 22 TRS line inputs, which can be used for any synthesisers, drum machines, and outboard gear, it can connect a good variety of audio devices. The ease in integration and control from multiple audio sources makes it the prime centrepiece for a studio setup.

In the Studio…

This makes it a beast for studio owners and producers who have a lot of synths and outboard gear. It features a 24-channel USB audio interface with extensive connectivity to DAWs and other digital devices, making interfacing very comfortable. The DAW transport control, including HUI/MCU protocol emulation, sets up effective workflow and fine control during recording sessions.

Dedicated Settings Panel application for Windows and Mac, including Meter View, means setup and monitoring can easily be achieved—even within the most complex studio environments. To expand creativity even more, the Model 2400 also includes MIDI capabilities, allowing you to ensure perfect synchronisation between your Model 2400 and other MIDI devices—all this with MIDI IN/OUT connectors, a USB-MIDI interface, and a MIDI clock output.

In a Venue…

This is where the Model 2400 features really come into their own. Multi-track recording and playback from an SD card during live performance allows capturing of the performances, which are played back for perfecting them later. The assignable TALKBACK to MAIN and AUX outputs gives crystal clear communication for easy handling between the sound engineer and performers during live shows. The built-in effects on the Model 2400 include reverb, delay, chorus, and much more. This allows sound engineers to accentuate live sounds without the added hassle of needing outboard effects units. An audio delay with adjustable settings in its USB output ensures the synchronisation between all sources of audio, eradicating completely any ugly latency problem.

The TASCAM Model 2400 is a solid addition to the family of multitrack recording mixers in terms of audio quality, connectivity, and versatile functionality. Whether used in a loud live venue or a high-end studio full of synthesisers and hardware, the Model 2400 is a great option for the go-to tool of an audio professional.
