Update of LPR35 performance on consumer grade equi

By: on 6 November 2018
This review is an addendum to my review of 12 months ago. In the interim I have overhauled my primary Reel to Reel machine, a Pioneer RT-707. Part of this process was to set the BIAS of the machine to match LPR35. The performance of LPR35 with the RT-707 in 'standard' trim was impressive, but it's performance now is breathtaking. The dynamic range that the tape is capable of supporting is very impressive. I now use use DBX Type II noise reduction and in conjunction with the impressive performance of the LPR35 my recordings are indistinguishable from the source, even from a digital source such as CD or lossless audio file. Don't even bother trying to source old tape, just purchase new Mulann stock and never look back!

Exceptional performance on consumer grade equipmen

By: on 11 September 2017
After years of using second hand, older Quantegy/Ampex 456 I decided to try out some new production tape, specifically the LPR35. I was amazed at how good it sounded on my 'consumer grade' Pioneer RT-707. The recording quality at both 7.5IPS and 3.75IPS was outstanding and virtually indistinguishable from the source material. The BIAS and EQ settings of the Pioneer suited this tape very well without having to re-calibrate. Very impressive and highly recommended.
